One's comment about divinly inspired men leaving mysteries, reminded me of an episode of Mysteries of the bible I just watched. It was disscusing the life of Jacob, particularly Jacobs ladder. There was this one guy who was making the statement that only the bible and its writers leave mysteries or stories that are not complete. He pointed out how all other stories and legends from that time have completion to them (I.E the illiad) while bible stories (in this case jacobs ladder) leave the reader to guess and come to his own conclusions. Maybe this is a case where we have to divine the name that the number represents. Or schism can tell us once his ban is over.

The Wild Beast has both a Name & Number. Do you know what the NAME is?
by Schizm inas shown by the text below, the 7-headed wild beast has a name.. 16 and it puts under compulsion all persons, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, that they should give these a mark in their right hand or upon their forehead, 17 and that nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name.
18 here is where wisdom comes in: let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a mans number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six.
of course the beast's "number" is "666" -- but that's not it's "name".

If you were God, would you want to be worshipped?
by rebel8 inif i was the god of the bible, i think my priorities would be to set the ground rules of life and manage the planet, ensuring life is good.
i cannot envision any reason to desire worship.
appreciation, yes.

I look at it like this. Most of our JW training taught us that god made us so we can worship him. But, it also likens him to a father or parent. Now for those who have children ask yourselves this...was the reason you had children so that they can adore you and worship you and follow your every word? And also what kind of children would those be?

honesty you hit the nail on the head. You are letting all these Bethelites out " to be active in the field" they are gonna be dogging the R&F out. You have to look at the mentality of those leaving. 15-30 year bethelites who were just biding their time til they can be a bethel heavy. And then when they were right on the cusp, they are told to go home. Thats a pyschological trauma bethelites arent able to deal with. I wont even get into the finding a job thing.

How many actually watched or owned adult material when they were Witnesses?
by free2beme ini was at a book study when i was in my teens and went to use the bathroom, and the family who owned the home said to use the one in their bedroom, as someone was already in the other one.
so i did and as i was in there i noticed a magazine on the counter that was only partly covered.
i could not help myself, and looked to see what it was and it was a penthouse.

You know it is really a shame that despite your best efforts to just explain YOUR personnal reasons and feelings for leaving the organization, Most JW's just dont want to listen. The only thing that they listen for is whether or not you believe in and trust the society. Once they hear that you have doubts, the rest dosen't matter. I believe that the reason for this is that more-n-likely the reasons you have for leaving, will mirror the doubts that have been swelling up inside of them.

Just think in 30-40 yrs the WTS will call this period and inspection by Jah. 'And he came in 2006 and saw that there was those even in Bethel that were not fully living up to their christian oblagations and removed them from his sacred bethel.' Amazing what time and ignorance will do to the facts.

Assemblies: Were You Always on the Prowl for a Mate?
by prophecor init was usually encouraged that we try to remain single somewhere during the assembly, especially the summer conventions.
some of you sisters were so hott with your summer dresses, hair freshly done.
though i went for the obligatory meeting attendance, it was nice to be able to go on a fishing expedition for sisters, if that was your choosing.

What JW's are saying regarding the downsizing at Bethel
by jimbob ini haven't posted anything for a while on jwd due to being busy with work and school, but this email was to much of a crack up not to post.
this was sent to my wife today from her old jw friend.
she forwarded it to me and i'm posting it with her permission.

I dont mean to be vulgar, But, you must be sh!!ing me. That is the most incredulous spin I have ever heard of. I am now convinced that the boys in writing must moonlight within the bush administration.

"You may be laughing now....but.."
by Jez inmy ex-husband, still a jw, and i were having a rare phone conversation about our girls.
it was surprisingly amicable until he sadly said, "you know, all i ever wanted was for my girls to be pioneers.
" i burst out laughing and said, "that's all?

Its truly a telling sign about JWs that they so desire for BILLIONS to be killed. I remember working out in field service and some one would reject us at the door or be a little angry with us. Did my field partner "shake the dust off his feet and move on"? Heck e naw all you heard was 'Yeah wait till Jehovah show him whose right at Armegedon".

I'll take a stab at it. Old light (WTS thinking) will say that all refer to Jehovah. After re-reading them I think it can be said that the first 2 refer to Jehovah. But if you look at the context (whole chapter) the last one 'seems' like it can be attributed to Jesus.
